I'll miss death metal Opeth, but Pale Communion is so good that I can be happy with their old tracks. Honestly, "Faith in Others" is amazing. It is beautiful and dark at the same time. And yet, it doesn't get away stylistically from Opeth in the past.

Opeth and Porcupine Tree are my all time favorite bands. This album proves, yet again, why Opeth is in the top two.

I'll second you on that top two. Not only are their albums great, but they're both great live performers, too.

Also curious, what do you think of Steven Wilson's solo works up to now? I think Porcupine Tree's hiatus is getting closer and closer to permanent (sadly), but I've enjoyed Wilson's albums (especially The Raven That Refused to Sing ).

Opeth rocks! And Amorphis, another melodic death metal band. Blackwater Park is Opeth's best. Tales From A Thousand Lakes is Amorphis's best.

Edit: Candlemass was one of Sweden's best as well.

I'm a big fan, honestly. Of course, I've been listening to Porcupine Tree since I was a sullen and bored teenager, wishing away each day.

From there, I discovered Bass Communion, IEM, Blackfield and no-man, and since then, I haven't heard a piece he's been involved in that I haven't liked.
